Jane's Doodles Release Blog Hop

(I am running late! Yikes! We have family rolling in from Canada)

Hello!

Welcome to another JD Release Blog Hop!
Introducing Dogs and Cats!

I made a card using my Dogs stamp set! Are they cute or are they cute?!! I coloured(with Graph'it markers) and cut out my dog friends and arranged them onto the card. I created the sky background with water colours and the grass by cutting some green cardstock which I then stamped paws all over with versamark ink. I heat embossed the speach bubble (which is from my Read All About It stamp set) and sentiment with white embossing powder on transparent paper (what's it called? brain not working). I added glossy accents on the back by tracing the lines. It looks all wonky because I didn't wait for it to dry when I took the photo (I was running late)....

See...once it dried it was nice a flat. :)

You know the drill...leave comments as you hop and you can win a $50 Jane's Doodles gift certificate! You can also take advantage of 20% off all stamp set!

We've got a FAB guest designer and two new design team members!!

friday favourites

Where has July gone?!!! This is NOT fair! It feels like I just shared my Friday favourites yesterday!

Anyways..here they are! :)

t-shirt, jean shorts and flip flops - perfect! :)

I just HAVE to try this easy cinnamon swirl loaf.....I LOVE cinnamon!

I LOVE LOVE the floor! And that stool is pretty cool!

I LOVE nail polish BUT I notice that I always go back to the same colours/shades which are neutrals and really dark shades like Wicked from Essie. Essie nail polishes are going on sale (at Muller in Garden Mall I believe on Monday for those who live near by) and I plan to buy this one.

mini devil's food cake

It was my brother in laws birthday yesterday and despite the HEAT (we have no ac) I baked him his very own mini cake! I used two 4.5 inches (11.5 cm) cake pans to make the cake. With the rest of the batter I made cupcakes. Eveyone loves this cake and the best thing is that it is sooooo easy to make!

Delicious Devil's Food Cake

1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/14 cups sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
2/3 cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs

Heat oven to 350 degrees F / 180 degress C.
Grease (not oil) and lightly flour botton of cake pan (if using). In a large bowl, blend all ingredients at low speed until moistened. Beat 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour batter into prepared pans/muffin tins. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or around 18 to 20 minutes in muffin tins (depending how big you muffin tray is). Cool completey and frost.

Creamy Whipped Frosting

3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
pinch of salt (if you are using unsalted butter)
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup of butter (113 grams)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In small saucepan, combine first 3 ingredients. Blend in milk. Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens stirring constantly. Stir in butter. Chill about 1/2 hour or until cool. Stir in vanilla and beat at high speed until light and fluffy.

throw back thursday

Hello!
I hope all is well!

I'd like to share a little 'throw back Thursday' with ya, I'm pretty sure I haven't shared these photo here on the blog...or maybe I did...oh well. I believe two years ago we visitied Zadar's Cathedral of St. Anastasia (built in the 4th and 5th century....hello!!!! Mind blowing history people). More specifically we climbed the bell tower and when you get to the top you get an amazing view of the beautiful city of Zadar.

Below you can see us making our way to the bell tower....how AMAZING are the cobblestone streets....how amazing I ask you!!?! :)

Again I look to Wikipedia! And this is what it says about the cathedral.

The Cathedral of St. Anastasia (CroatianKatedrala sv. StoÅ¡ije) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in ZadarCroatia. It is the seat of theArchdiocese of Zadar, and the largest church in all of Dalmatia (the coastal region of Croatia).
The church's origins date back to a Christian basilica built in the 4th and 5th centuries, while much of the currently standing three-nave building was constructed in the Romanesque style during the 12th and 13th centuries. The site has been submitted to UNESCO's Tentative List of World Heritage Sites.

Climbinb up the very narrow staircase.

The bell is massive!

Don't worry...this is not on the top of the tower! LOL!

My crew! ;)

Can't wait to visit Zadar in a couple of weeks! Yay!

If you're the praying type could you please keep my brother in your prayers (he had a stroke). Since it has happened I have been out of it and running late on a lot of things.

Only two ingredients - bananas and chocolate chips!

Wooden spoons and cutting boards...the more the better! :)

I kinda have a nail polish problem. Could be worse I guess! :)
